Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

      A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need - that is, students with the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and give priority to students who receive Federal Pell Grant.  An FSEOG does not have to be paid back.

What is the difference between the FSEOG and the Federal Pell Grant?

       The U.S. department of Education guarantees that each participating school will receive enough money to pay the Federal Pell Grants of its eligible students.    There is no guarantee every eligible student will be able to receive an FSEOG; students at a KCTCS community and technical college will be awarded an FSEOG based on the availability of funds.

How much money can I get?

       The amount of a FSEOG award will vary from college to college for the 2007-2008 Academic Year, depending on when you apply, your level of need, and other financial resources assisting you in attending college.

How will I be paid?

       The KCTCS college you attend will process your financial aid and present it to you in a Financial Aid Package.    Your financial aid package will explain the amount of FSEOG and other financial aid funding you are eligible to receive for the 2007-2008Academic Year.  The FSEOG will be paid at least once per term (semester) as long as you maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and meet all other FSEOG eligibility requirements.
