Distance Learning

KCTCS colleges offer you the opportunity to earn a degree online or to take classes that lead to a degree at KCTCS or will transfer to another college. View our online programs for a complete listing of KCTCS courses and credentials that can be completed online.

Distance learning is an alternative for many students who cannot attend classes on campus due to scheduling conflicts, childcare, work or other commitments, but it is not for everyone.

First, Distance Learning courses require a computer with Internet access and an e-mail account. In addition, online learning requires a certain amount of computer savvy. Learners should know basic word processing, how to send and receive e-mail, and how to make attachments. Distance Learning classes require communication with faculty and other students via e-mail or discussion groups, taking online tests or proctored tests, and submitting various assignments via attachments.

There are many Student Services available to help you succeed. Take advantage of them through your KCTCS Home College! To maximize your distance learning knowledge, go to our student tutorial.

Please remember, too, that a friendly, knowledgeable Help Desk is available to answer your questions. Call 866-590-9238 anytime.

Nothing is more important than your success!

Providing our students convenient options is important to the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS). So we’ve partnered with the Kentucky Virtual Campus (KYVC) to offer more than 1,100 Distance Learning courses. With our virtual library, online bookstore, and 24-hour assistance, you can even complete entire programs in the comfort of your own home or office.

Take a peek at our current Distance Learning course calendar, or browse our online degrees and certificates. If you like what you see, begin by applying at a KCTCS college near you.

Once admitted to a KCTCS College, you may submit a KYVC student inquiry for our Distance Learning courses, or register for courses at any one of our KCTCS Colleges. And if you need any help along the way, one of our distance learning advisors will be glad to lend a hand.

Use your KCTCS user ID and password to log into your Blackboard classes. All KCTCS communication concerning Distance Learning course user IDs and passwords will occur through the KCTCS e-mail account. To facilitate communication among the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, its colleges and students, each student, both online and on campus, will receive a KCTCS e-mail address. Information about student accounts.

If Distance Learning isn't right for you, KCTCS also offers other ways to learn.
