Definitions

Goal
• A broad statement of the System’s purpose and aims for the next five years.
• Four goals for the KCTCS Strategic Plan 2006-10 were approved by the KCTCS Board of Regents in December 2004.
• The goals reflect the KCTCS Mission, Vision, and Values.

Core Indicator
• A performance category that describes an outcome of a goal.
• At its March 2005 meeting, the Board of Regents prioritized the Core Indicators for 2006-08.

Measure
• A statistic used to define a core indicator. More than one measure may be assigned to a core indicator.
• KCTCS Research and Policy Analysis staff will maintain information on a broad range of measures.

Target
• A performance objective or standard identified for a measure.
• The KCTCS President will assign a subset of measures that reflect the Board’s priorities and develop targets for each of them.
• Progress toward these targets will be reported regularly to the Board.
