About KCTCS: Strategic Planning

2006-2010 Strategic Plan

The Kentucky Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997 (House Bill 1) identifies the types of programs and services KCTCS is expected to provide.

From these mandates, KCTCS' Values, Vision, and Mission Statements were derived and provide the foundation for the System's strategic goals.

The goals for the KCTCS Strategic Plan 2006-2010 are:
  1. Promote excellence in teaching and learning
  2. Increase student access and success
  3. Expand diversity and global awareness
  4. Enhance the economic development of communities and the Commonwealth.
The KCTCS strategic goals reflect the KCTCS Mission, Vision, and Values.

Core Indicators for each of the goals were identified by the Office of Research and Policy Analysis and the President's Leadership Team. Thirteen Core Indicators were approved in March 2005 by the KCTCS Board of Regents.

In April 2005, the President and his leadership team identified measures for each of the Core Indicators. Targets were set for selected measures in May 2005. Read definitions for terms used.

In June 2005, the KCTCS Board of Regents approved the KCTCS Strategic Plan 2006-10 for implementation on July 1, 2005.
