Cynthia L. Read

Cynthia L. Read lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is the director of the Kentucky Institute for Family Literacy, a division of the National Center for Family Literacy focused on expanding and improving family literacy services throughout Kentucky. Previously, Ms. Read managed the Internal Communications Department at the UPS Airlines in Louisville. She also worked as an education advocate for UPS, supporting the company's commitment to Kentucky school reform. Ms. Read was appointed to the first KCTCS Board of Regents in 1997 and to a second six-year term in 2002. She served as secretary and vice-chair before being elected Board Chair in June 2001 and again in June 2003. Ms. Read currently chairs the Board's Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Accountability Committee. Ms. Read is a graduate of Princeton University and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, West Africa.
