ue Schooler, associate executive director of the Council on Occupational Education,
was a presenter during the second session of  a Technical Institutions Branch in-service. The most recent session was at Rough River State Park May 4-6.
The in-service's theme was the characteristics of a technical college. Participants included school directors, other school administrators, and faculty and staff representatives.
COE is the accrediting agency for the Technical Institutions Branch. Schooler reported on the criteria COE has established for technical colleges, including credentialing of instructors.
The program also included a presentation by school directors on their proposed organizational structure.
Jack Moreland, interim chancellor of the Technical Institutions Branch, said he was pleased with the information provided during the in-service.
"Technical education has done an outstanding job for years as evidenced by the strong support it receives from Kentucky's businesses and industries," Moreland said.  "But now, as we move to a technical college culture, we can provide even more options and services to our students."
