Southeast Kentucky Fact Sheet
Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College - Middlesboro Campus

Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) first began offering off-campus classes in Bell County in the early 1980s. By the fall of 1987, it was obvious that enrollment would continue to grow in Bell County, and space was acquired on the third floor of the First State Bank Building. When enrollment increases rendered this building inadequate, additional space was obtained on the second floor of the Middlesboro Board of Education Building. Soon the College realized that permanent facilities would be required in Middlesboro to keep up with student demand. In 1990, the General Assembly approved the College's plan to build and occupy a new Bell County Campus to be shared with the Southeast Regional Technology Center. The campus design included three initial buildings with room for growth. Work on the campus began in 1993 and the new facility opened for classes in August 1995. Today, the campus boasts the largest enrollment of any of the five Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College campuses.
