Southeast Kentucky Fact Sheet
Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College - Pineville Campus

Campus History

Pineville Campus traces its beginning to 1961 when it was located across from the Pineville Community Hospital and known as "The Pineville School for Practical Nurses." After the devastating flood of 1977, construction began on a new building, and in 1983, "Cumberland Valley Health Occupations" was dedicated at the current Pineville site. From 1983-1985 the campus housed only Practical Nursing. Surgical Technology was added in 1985 and Radiologic Technology in 1986. The Respiratory Care program opened in 1989, and in 1993 the Medical Laboratory Technology Program was added. In 1998 with the birth of KCTCS, the Pineville campus was designated as a technical college and renamed "Cumberland Valley Technical College". In January 2002, Cumberland Valley Technical College merged with Southeast Community College to form "Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College".
