Somerset Named Giving Opportunities
Your investment in Somerset Community College will make a significant impact on the lives of our students and the businesses and communities we serve.

Private sector investments provide a critical margin of support that enables SCC to pursue excellence in classroom instruction, training for business and industry, continuing education, cultural enrichment, community service, and economic development.

We consider it an honor to recognize the benefactors who have invested significantly in our mission and vision. Your name, or the name of someone you wish to honor, will be recognized in a special way for your support of the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign for SCC as outlined in this brochure. Additional naming opportunities may be developed at your request. Named giving opportunities are offered for outright gifts, cash pledges over a five-year period, and irrevocable planned gifts such as charitable trusts.

NAMED GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Endowments
SCC has a number of endowed funds consisting of gifts of principal funds that have been invested in perpetuity to generate earnings now and in future years to support the donor's intended purpose. Annual income generated by endowments can be used to support faculty and students, programs, and/or operational needs of SCC. Endowments greatly enhance SCC's capacity to meet the needs of the region.

Named Academic Positions
Endowed Chair - Minimum gift of $500,000
Endowed Professorship - Minimum gift of $100,000
An endowed chair is a distinction awarded by the KCTCS Board of Regents to a faculty member in recgognition of significant contributions to the individual's academic discipline. An endowed chair may also be held by the current chair or director of an academic division. In addition to the academic honor given to the individual, an endowed chair or professorship provides funding for support of his or her teaching, research, and service responsibilities, and is supported by annual income from a permanently invested endowment fund.

Income may also be used to support the base salary of the endowed chair or professorship, unless expressly prohibited by the donor or gift agreement.

Endowed Lectureship
Minimum gift between $10,000 - $100,000
An endowed lectureship is a temporary appointment and may be given to a visiting scholar in temporary residence or may be used to support a lecture series on the topic for which the lectureship was created.

Named Scholarships
Somerset Community College will name endowed scholarships to support students attending SCC. Donors may designate the name, purpose and criteria for awarding scholarships from the income generated by the endowment. A $50,000 endowment gift would support one student scholarship per year.
