When Kentucky legislators, business and industry leaders, and citizens of our region combined the community and technical colleges, in part
to increase the college-going rate for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, they demonstrated tremendous foresight. Owensboro Community and

"The establishment of Owensboro Community College in 1986 marked the beginning of a new
and multifaceted institution. With an initial enrollment of slightly more than 200 students,
who would have believed that, from this humble beginning, this institution would serve over 8,000
students during this academic year? The consolidation of Owensboro Community College with
Owensboro Technical College to create OCTC was a landmark accomplishment for our region&
