Gifts Campaign raises $3.74 million to date
Fulfilling the
Promise Campaign
has $5 million goal
Madisonville Community College
announced on October 5 that the Fulfilling
the Promise Gifts Campaign, which actually
began in July 2002, has received $3,743,150
in gifts and pledges as of October 1st, and
has set an overall campaign goal of $5
million, including over $1 million for the
Glema Mahr Center for the Arts. The
announcement was made before a crowd of
community leaders and college employees
at the William Hatley Building on the
college's Health Campus.
Among those who made remarks were
KCTCS President Dr. Michael McCall, who
spoke about development efforts from a
state-wide perspective, Campaign General
Chair Steve Cox, MCC President Dr. Judy
Rhoads, Employee Division Co-Chair Bill
Winstead, and scholarship recipient Hope
Weaver.
In his remarks, Chairman Cox thanked
all of the campaign volunteers -- who now
number 120 -- for their dedication and hard
work, and also commended the chairs of
each of the campaign divisions. During her
remarks, Dr. Rhoads noted that over $1
million of the total raised to date is
designated to different endowment areas,
including $400,000 to scholarships and
$200,000 to the Glema Center. This amount
will provide the college with over $24,000 in
additional interest income each academic
year.
The campaign will likely conclude in late
spring 2005. At the conclusion of
yesterday's announcement Richard Frymire
was recognized by Dr. McCall and Dr.
Rhoads for being selected 2004 Kentucky
Benefactor of the Year by the Council for
Resource Development earlier this year.
