Madisonville Case for Support
OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE

The College takes great pride in the ability of its faculty and staff to create the best possible opportunities in postsecondary education. MCC has maintained a commitment to quality of which board members, students, donors, and employees can be proud. Our accomplishments over the past three years include:

  • Over 3,400 credit students served in Fall 2003. Glema Mahr Center
  • The first KCTCS college to consolidate the administrative structures of the existing community and technical colleges in its district. Consolidation places the college in the vanguard of institutions addressing the vision set forth in the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Improvement Act of 1997.
  • One of only 47 community colleges nationally to receive a federal Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant in 2003.
  • Dedication of the Muhlenberg County Campus in August 2001. Eighty-two percent of this project's total budget consisted of private dollars donated by committed Muhlenberg donors.
  • Nationwide recognition of two donors, Mrs. Glema Mahr and Trover Foundation, by the National Council of Resource Development, for their longtime support of arts and allied health programming. Dancers on stage
  • An Arts Center with a national reputation of excellence in programming and delivery of arts education opportunities. The Center remains a member of the Kennedy Center's Arts Partners in Education and hosts western Kentucky's only arts academy for primary and secondary students.
  • Successful implementation and expansion of ACE2, a regionally recognized adult basic education program that makes innovative use of webbased, selfpaced instructional software to increase the literacy rate of undereducated Kentuckians. 184 western Kentuckians have achieved their GEDs in the past 2 academic years through the ACE2 Program.
  • The College's Workforce Development Department tested over 2500 applicants for the new Autoliv plant, which recently relocated to Hopkins County. The Workforce Development Team continues to be the Center for Lean Excellence in Kentucky and to partner with many other KCTCS colleges to deliver training.
