WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
  • KCTCS is the Commonwealth’s primary provider of workforce training and education. KCTCS colleges served 92,828 credit students in fall 2007 and awarded 20,970 credentials in the 2006-07 academic year.
  • In 2006-07, 47,991 Kentuckians accessed workforce training and continuing education programs in addition to serving 4,850 businesses and training 84,079firefighters.
  • The Employability Certification Program provides an effective training solution for employers and workers. The portable credential ensures that individuals who earn the certification have skills for which employers are looking for. There have been more than 12,500 employability certificates awarded across the state.
  • KCTCS colleges offer 600 credit program options. The two-year associate in arts and associate in science degree programs are the most popular followed by nursing and business administration and management.
STUDENT ACCESS
  • KCTCS has expanded its physical access to post secondary education and now provides 16 colleges serving Kentucky citizens on 67 campuses.
Enrollment increasing over time

  • KCTCS is a leader in distance learning education with 2,000 on-line, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses that support more than 70 on-line associate and certificate programs.
  • In fall 2007, 23,802 students were enrolled in on-line courses with nearly 1,800 KCTCS faculty using course management software to support teaching and learning.
  • Specialized courses at KCTCS colleges teach adults to read, write and prepare for the GED exam. In 2006-07, KCTCS served 31,614 students in adult education and literacy programs.
PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENT
  • Across the Commonwealth, more than 1,000 individuals, many representing the state’s most successful businesses, are volunteering in Campaign leadership positions.
  • As of April 2008, 12,160 donors had committed nearly $84 million to the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign, including $3.5 million pledged by KCTCS employees and board members.
  • The Fulfilling the Promise Campaign is significantly impacting the resources available to expand and enhance KCTCS programs and services. Since the Campaign began, the market value of the KCTCS Endowment has climbed to nearly $29 million.
THE KCTCS FOUNDATION, INC.
  • The KCTCS Foundation, Inc. is the official not-for-profit, fund raising arm of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. The Foundation is governed by a 17-member board of directors representing education, business and industry.
  • The Foundation’s current chair is Jean R. Hale, Chairman, President and CEO of Community Trust Bancorp Inc.
