George Green honored for gift to HCTC
Floyd County Times (Prestonsburg)
George F. Green of Hazard is honored by Hazard Community and Technical College and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System for making one of the largest individual gift to the college. Green was one of two named by the College at Benefactor of the Year for 2006. Accepting on behalf of his father was Gordon Green.
In March 2006, Hazard Community and Technical College received its largest gift from an individual in the history of the College. George F. Green, who had been planning a gift for some time, made a sizeable commitment during the College's Fulfilling the Promise Campaign. The gift is for scholarships to students who have been accepted into one of HCTCS' allied health programs.
When asked about his gift, Mr. Green replied "Hazard Community and Technical College is one of the best things that ever happened to Hazard; I am a firm believer in education, and HCTC has done an excellent job of providing services for the people of Eastern Kentucky to be able to get an education."
The only other benefactor honored was Judge Lewis Warrix and the Breathitt Fiscal Court for their $1 million gift.
