Prestonsburg, KY (October 3, 2005) In an impressive ceremony on September 8, 2005, First Commonwealth Bank (FCB) pledged $25,000 for Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) scholarships. Gregory A. Wilson, FCB President and CEO, along with Burl Wells Spurlock, Chairman of the FCB Board of Directors presented the first installment of the five-year pledge to Dr. George D. Edwards, President of BSCTC and Judy Bocook, BSCTC Manager of Advancement. The money will be used to fund First Commonwealth Bank Scholarships which will go to two Big Sandy Community and Technical College students from Floyd County each year.

First Commonwealth Bank has been a long time supporter of post-secondary education. FCB Board Chairman Burl Wells Spurlock has served on the Big Sandy College Educational Foundation, Inc. Board for several years. With the many contributions the bank has made to education in eastern Kentucky, the bank has earned a sterling reputation for service to the community and the future of its citizens.
