Big Sandy Case for Support
CAMPAIGN INITIATIVES

THE STUDENT SUCCESS FUND $1,500,000 Endowment
Students are our number one priority and BSCTC is committed to removing the barriers that prevent our students from achieving their educational goals. Among the greatest challenges facing the citizens of our region who seek an education is financial access. Though our tuition costs are among the lowest in Kentucky and many of our students receive state and federal financial aid, this is still not enough for a growing number of students.

Funds from this initiative will allow BSCTC to seek creative solutions to overcome the barriers that prevent those students from pursuing a college education. This initiative seeks to raise funds to address current need and to plan for future need through the expansion of scholarship endowments. Permanent scholarship support will be one of the only ways the College can offer financial alternatives.

"I couldn't have come back to college if I didn't have financial help. Having that gave me what I needed to realize all those dreams that mean so much to me."

RACHELLE BURCHETT, BSCTC Student
"My financial aid didn't cover the full amount of my tuition and without a scholarship I would not have been able to continue my education. Receiving a scholarship allowed me to pay the remaining balance of my tuition, purchase books and provide childcare while I attended school."

THE FACULTY ENHANCEMENT FUND $750,000 Endowment
BSCTC is known throughout the region, indeed throughout the state, for its high quality faculty. Students who complete a certificate, diploma, degree or who come to the College just to refresh a skill are taught by dedicated professionals who are focused on enhancing their students' success.

BSCTC will supplement the state budget base to fund new faculty positions over the next five years. These positions will be in areas ranging from developmental education to highly technical programs. It is one of the challenges facing the College that, at the same time the need for advanced technological programs grows, so does the need for basic educational tools. By focusing on faculty across this spectrum, BSCTC will be able to achieve its primary goal of providing a dynamic education to residents of the region. With an endowed program for faculty positions, the College will continue to attract and keep the most qualified and dedicated instructors the region could imagine.

"The faculty endowment fund will help us to provide the kinds of additional opportunities that faculty are looking for in this competitive environment."

THE NEW OPPORTUNITIES FUND $250,000 Endowment $100,000 Current
To remain flexible and responsive to the needs of the Big Sandy Region, BSCTC will create an unrestricted endowment to pursue new opportunities with innovation and creativity. Permanently invested funds will generate annual income that will be directed to special projects and initiatives for which budgeted funds are not available. All great institutions of higher education rely on support from unrestricted endowment, BSCTC is no different.

Chair, Fulfilling the Promise Campaign
"We need an unrestricted endowment fund if we're going to be flexible and able to meet the needs of industry and businesses that we're trying to recruit to our area."

THE FACILITY IMPROVEMENT FUND $500,000 Current
The College's annual budget addresses the important maintenance of all structures on each campus. However, there is always a need for technological enhancements, security upgrades or unexpected repairs that are not covered by the budget plan. The addition of a fund dedicated to the facilities of BSCTC will allow flexibility in maintaining safe, secure, state-of-the-art facilities for our students.
