For 50 years, the Steele-Reese Foundation has served the Southern Appalachian mountain region by supporting projects that promote rural health, welfare, conservation and education. The Foundation, established in 1955 by Eleanor Steele-Reese, recently pledged $200,000 to the KCTCS Foundation to create an endowed scholarship fund for part-time students at four colleges - Big Sandy, Hazard, Somerset and Southeast Kentucky. The endowment will provide valuable support for students who are striving to improve their lives through higher education while also meeting the demands of work and family. KCTCS is proud to be a recipient of the Foundation's generosity as it celebrates its 50th anniversary of charitable giving.
