Benefactors of the Year, 2005JEFFERSON COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE DISTRICTBack to BenefactorsDoris L. Anderson, Louisville Honored by Jefferson Community and Technical College Doris L. Anderson has been a longtime supporter of Jefferson Community and Technical College. Her late husband, Andy Anderson, was a respected faculty member and the first coordinator for the College's commercial arts program. This past year, Mrs. Anderson established the Andy and Doris Anderson Memorial Endowment Fund in honor of her husband's many years of service to the institution. The College is grateful to Mrs. Anderson for her thoughtfulness and foresight. The endowment will provide ongoing support for the growth and enhancement of the commercial art/photography program and will greatly enhance the learning experience for students. Carroll County Fiscal Court, Carrollton Honored by Jefferson Community and Technical College Carroll County Judge Executive Harold "Shorty" Tomlinson and members of the Carroll County Fiscal Court are working diligently to promote literacy and the value of education for Carroll County residents. The Court recently donated $10,000 to the Carrollton Campus of Jefferson Community and Technical College and has already approved another $10,000 donation for the coming year. Its generous support will make a significant impact in positioning the College to expand programs that address literacy efforts and meet the requirements of the county's growing industry. The Court's insight will no doubt have long term benefits for the citizens of Carroll County. Highland Woman's Club, Louisville Honored by Jefferson Community and Technical College Highland Woman's Club recently donated $100,000 to Jefferson Community and Technical College to create the Highland Woman's Club Endowed Scholarship. This generous gift will be used to provide scholarships to single parents attending the College. By eliminating the financial burden associated with tuition, books and fees, the scholarship eases the transition into higher education for single parents. The College is truly grateful to the members of the Highland Woman's Club for supporting educational opportunities for single parents who are working to make a better life for themselves and their children. Dick and Ardi Wilson, Louisville Honored by Jefferson Community and Technical College Foundation, Inc. Dick and Ardi Wilson are steadfast supporters of Jefferson Community and Technical College and understand the role community colleges play in higher education. Mr. Wilson, who is a senior vice president for investments at UBS Financial Services, attributes much of his personal success to the winning start he attained at the College. The Wilsons recently pledged an estate gift to establish the Richard and Ardi Wilson Endowed Scholarship Fund. Mr. Wilson serves as vice-chair of the College's Educational Foundation, chairs the Leadership Awareness Committee for the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign and serves as the alumni representative to the Kentucky Council for Postsecondary Education. Mrs. Wilson is very active working with many of the community's charitable organizations. |
