Benefactors of the Year, 2005HAZARD COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGEBack to BenefactorsLeon L. and Sandy B. Hollon, Hazard Honored by Hazard Community and Technical College Leon and Sandy Hollon have always made supporting Hazard Community and Technical College one of their top priorities. The Hollons' personal commitment and the support provided by Peoples Bank and Trust Company of Hazard, where Mr. Hollon is president, have provided the College the ability to touch many lives. The Hollons understand the importance of education, and the College is fortunate to have such a civic-minded couple in the community. Mr. Hollon serves as cochair of the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign; and his wife, Sandy, serves as a member of the Leadership Awareness Committee. The Hollons' lead gift to the Campaign will be used to establish a professorship in Appalachian Studies in honor of Mr. Hollon's father, Alva A. Hollon, Sr. The Telford Foundation, Naples, FL Honored by Hazard Community and Technical College In 1994, Lees College presented the Telford Foundation a proposal to secure funding for the enhancement of academic computing resources. Since then, the Foundation has made the project an annual part of its philanthropy. In 2005, the Foundation presented Hazard Community and Technical College its first lead gift for the Fulfilling the Promise Campaign in the amount of $580,000 of which $80,000 will be used to establish the Telford Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund at the Lees College Campus. The remaining $500,000 is earmarked for the Invest in the Arts Initiative at Lees. The Foundation was created and funded by the generosity of the late Robert L. Telford. |
