Texas Gas Transmission LLC is a landmark in Owensboro and has been a corporate sponsor for Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC). With 275 enthusiastic employees, Texas Gas (who has survived several corporate changes in the past few years) is known for its dedication and civic support throughout the community. During one of its corporate changeovers, Texas Gas again remembered OCTC and donated its television studio equipment to the OCTC television cable station. This enabled OCTV to provide more opportunities for quality community service programming to the entire Owensboro region. Texas Gas Transmission has provided approximately $175,000 in gifts to Owensboro Community and Technical College.

Stephen and Sandra Alvey Carden exemplify and support the mission of education and life-long learning at their College. Steve, a professor of philosophy and ethics at OCTC for 17 years, is currently a doctoral candidate in philosophy at Vanderbilt University. Sandra Alvey Carden is the registrar at OCTC and has provided 28 years of dedicated service, serving thousands of students in her capacity. This husband and wife team, while working full-time and raising a family, has achieved educational and professional levels of high excellence. Both Steve and Sandy agree their accomplishments would not have been possible without the constant support of their parents whose innate desire and thirst for knowledge inspired their children to excel. Their gift of $20,000 to create the Carden-Alvey Scholarship Endowment honors their devoted parents: Carmine and Mary Carden and Joseph and Ruth Alvey.
