Equitable�s philanthropic activity is focused primarily on children and education initiatives. In the Big Sandy Region, Equitable provides funding for the Prestonsburg Community College scholarship endowments. Equitable Resources� subsidiaries, Equitable Production and Kentucky West Virginia Gas, comprise the largest natural gas supplier in the Appalachian basin, with reserves in excess of 2.0 trillion cubic feet, 12,000 gross productive wells, and 6,600 miles of gathering systems.

For almost 30 years, Mountain Enterprises, Inc. has paved the way for economic development in the Big Sandy area. Their goal is to provide quality construction services that will safely link families and communities throughout the �mountains.� Mountain Enterprises is a family owned road builder with local employees committed to improving the quality of life in the local community. In the continuing effort to improve the quality of life for Big Sandy area citizens, Mountain Enterprises donated a walking trail on the campus of Prestonsburg Community College, which is used by hundreds of students and community members to improve their health and mental well-being.
