I just cant tell you how much I believe in SCC.  Words, not only spoken, but lived by Richard E. Cooper.  As a founding father of Somerset Community College, Mr. Cooper served on the first Advisory Board and participated in the initial groundbreaking in 1965.  He and Mrs. Cooper have supported the College with their leadership, resources, and influence. Mr. Cooper selected the leadership and solicited the lead gifts for the Partners in Progress Campaign.  Mrs. Cooper is an avid supporter of the Theater and the Arts. The faculty, staff, and students of SCC are proud to count the Coopers as friends of the College and pleased they are receiving this distinguished and deserving award.

John David Wright, owner of Kentucky Caseworks, recently bought and built a Mini 550 helicopter for his personal use.  After achieving his goal of constructing his own helicopter, he thought of the airframe and power plant technology students at Somerset Technical College and how they might benefit from his experience.  His gift of the helicopter to the College gives students hands-on experience and training with up-to-date equipment. Somerset Technical College is grateful to Mr. Wright for his generosity.
