In recent years, a variety of projects and programs in the area of Allied Health at Jefferson Community College have been supported by more than $300,000 in funding from Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services, Inc.  They have provided substantial support to the College�s Nursing and Occupation Therapy Assistant Program, as well as funding that built and furnished the College�s Allied Health Multimedia Lab to help students develop a deeper understanding of their course content through computer-aided instruction, interactive video, and clinical simulation. The administration and the Allied Health faculty and staff at Jefferson Community College are reminded, with each success of these programs and facilities, of the key role that Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services has played in the College�s achievements in Allied Health instruction.

Accepting the award on behalf of the company is Executive Director of the Humana Foundation, Ms. Virginia Kelly Judd

A number of programs at Jefferson Community College, particularly in Nursing and the Fine Arts, have been improved with contributions from the Humana Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of Humana, Inc. With funds from Humana totaling more than $100,000, the College was able to renovate its signature campus structure - the historic seminary building in which the College was founded - so that the building now accommodates student theatrical and musical performances. Humana�s generosity has also made it possible for the College to purchase much-needed theatrical props and stage equipment. In addition, Humana�s assistance has included substantial support for Jefferson�s nursing program, as well as a grant of $150,000 to the Office of Resource Development - a contribution that allowed the College to lay groundwork for successful fundraising campaigns in the future. And, in a significant expression of leadership by example, David Jones, Chairman of the Board of Humana, Inc., has personally donated generously to assist with the development of extracurricular activities for Jefferson Community College students.

To accept the award is Mr. Dick Wilson

Mr. Dick Wilson, senior vice president for investments for PaineWebber commodity brokers, is a striking success story for Jefferson Community College. Also an alumnus of the University of Louisville, Mr. Wilson attributes much of his personal success to the winning start he attained at Jefferson Community College. To the College�s great benefit, Mr. Wilson has not forgotten his early ties. He understand the unique role that community College�s play in American higher education, and he is a stalwart champion and herald for Jefferson. Currently a member of the board of the College�s Educational Foundation, Mr. Wilson is also chairman of the newly formed Jefferson Community and Technical Colleges Alumni Association, and he is deeply involved with the Jefferson Community College�s growing mentor program. In addition, Mr. Wilson has arranged to continue his support of the College with a substantial gift from his estate. Jefferson Community College is grateful for his enthusiasm and service, and we salute Mr. Dick Wilson.
