To accept the award is Robert A. Lawton, Chairman of the Board

The First National Bank of Muhlenberg County is one of Madisonville Community College's best friends. In 1995, the Bank committed $250,000 to MCC efforts to build a multi-service college site in eastern Muhlenberg County. The Bank's Board of Directors subsequently contributed over $140,000 in individual and family pledges to the same endeavor. Employees of the Bank also contributed to the local fund raising efforts. Their generosity and volunteer efforts ultimately proved successful as MCC dedicated the Muhlenberg campus in August 2001. Bank Chairman, Robert A. Lawton, was a member of the Muhlenberg Campaign Executive Committee. Several bank employees are now active volunteers in the College's new Fulfilling the Promise Campaign.

To accept the award is Steve Cox, President and CEO

First United Bank has served MCC with distinction in a number of ways over the past decade. Since 1995, the Bank has been a generous supporter of the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, and in 2002 provided a 5-year commitment to sponsor the Center's popular four-part Coffeehouse Series through 2007. First United's President and CEO, Steve Cox, serves as Chairman of the Madisonville College Foundation. The Bank's Vice-President for Business Development, Jim McMurtrie, serves in a voluntary capacity as Director of the Madisonville Community College Choir, a community-based group of 70 singers who perform at graduation and who will provide a community Christmas special on December 20, 2003. Both Cox and McMurtrie serve as adjunct faculty members.
