To accept the award is Ms. Shannon Edlin, former student and recipient of the Eleanor Douglas Scholarship Fund

Ms. Eleanor L. Douglas lives a life devoted to students and education and is committed to leaving a legacy by dedicating financial resources to support deserving students. Ms. Douglas began teaching in 1925 and for 40 years touched the lives of hundreds of students in the Hardin County area. She established a charitable remainder trust with North Central Education Foundation to insure that her long-term wishes are carried out in addition to making a substantial investment in NCEF's general scholarship fund. To Ms. Douglas her students are her family, and she is deeply gratified to help them achieve their educational goals.

To accept the award is Mr. Bill Rissel, President and CEO

William Rissel, is the President/CEO of Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, which was twice named "Best Credit Union in the Army" and honored as "Best Credit Union in the Nation." Bill has served as chairman of the national Credit Union Executive Society and was recently inducted into the Credit Union Hall of Fame. In addition, Bill is a recognized civic leader, serving on a variety of boards including the North Central Education Foundation. He received the Kentucky Credit Union League's Outstanding Professional Award for his work as the Chairman of Kentucky's Governmental Affairs Committee. Under Bill's leadership Fort Knox Federal Credit Union has invested significant financial resources to benefit Elizabethtown Community College. 

 

Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Litzenberger, Elizabethtown

To accept the award are Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Litzenberger

Dr. W. A. Litzenberger and his wife, Connie, are true believers and personal practitioners of lifelong learning with a dedication to community service. A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Litzenberger is a committed student at Elizabethtown Community College. Following his exemplary medical career, Dr. Litzenberger and Connie established a charitable remainder trust and scholarship fund through the North Central Education Foundation. Dr. Litzenberger devotes time as a director of NCEF. The Litzenbergers feel people should never stop learning. Their belief is "Our brains are similar to pathways in the woods - use them or lose them. We wish to help others use theirs."

Being Honored by North Central Education Foundation

James V. Hartlage, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Fort Knox National Bank and Fort Knox National Co. and owner and CEO of Accumetric and Hardec's, has served on North Central Education Foundation. Jim's father served as a founding director of the North Central Education Foundation. The Hartlage companies have given generously to the Foundation to support postsecondary education and encourage their employees to further their education by providing them the opportunity to attend college tuition-free. Jim Hartlage, his family, and businesses are deeply committed to the value of education in improving the quality of life.
