About Us

  • "Simulation-based training is superior to problem-based learning for the acquisition of critical assessment and management skills." - Critical Care Medicine

    Our goal

Technology solutions that engage and immerse learners to shorten the learning cycle.

The KCTCS Interactive Digital Center is a solution center for workforce development and teaching and learning applications and business and industry.   The IDC is a research and content development center that utilizes cutting edge visualization technologies to create highly immersive and interactive simulation based learning and training applications.  The Interactive Digital Center is staffed with content developer and modelers who are capable of developing custom training applications using client owned 3D digital assets from a wide variety of high end software applications.  The IDC is also an innovation center trying the latest cutting edge visualization technologies to provide innovative training applications for KCTCS clients and colleges.

The KCTCS IDC is being hosted by Bowling Green Technical College in the Kentucky Advanced Technology Institute Campus.  This facility is home to the development staff and the I-Cube training System and software training lab.

The IDC offers a dynamic arrangement of simulation based training applications and content to include some of the following:

  • Customized Content Creation Services for Business, Industry and training applications
  • Simulation Based Training Applications – Using client owned 3D digital assets the IDC will develop custom training applications that are real world and immersive reducing the learning cycle and training costs as a result of reuse of content and ease of modification. These experiences can be shared in face to face applications, online or stand alone and provides opportunities to adapt to situations or technology advances in ways traditional training cannot match, thereby providing a higher level training solution.
  • Immersive Simulation based training facility using the ICube technology with is a four wall stereographic visualization screens that provides a virtual training and learning experiences. Users in the ICube interact with virtual models and content which can range from virtual disassemblies of equipment, virtual factory situations, or other custom simulation learning applications.
  • Training Workshops‐the IDC will offer quarterly 3D development and training workshops for a variety of applications focusing on development work in EON Professional Software.
  • The IDC also provides space and infrastructure for rent to industry clients for training or other applications
  • Other emerging technologies and custom training services.

The IDC has a variety of innovative technologies that are being reviewed and deployed to support workforce education and teaching and learning.   These include

  • Interactive 3D content development using EON Professional Software and enterprise solutions
  • Stereographic presentations that visually cause items to appear in holographic like form and appear in the room. This provides a first person perspective to all participants in the training.
  • Tele presence technologies providing a holographic presenter image at a podium or extremely clear person to person worldwide meetings and conversations.
  • TouchLight technologies which are a gesture based computer interaction that allows the user to manipulate images without actually touching a screen or computer through use of infrared and video technologies.
  • Auto stereo display technologies that are emerging glassless stereo (3D) presentation technology.

Our Mission

Taking an entrepreneurial approach for the integration and application of cutting edge technologies for the enhancement and support of the KCTCS educational mission, we provide a content creation, research and development center.
