Versailles, Ky. (July 21, 2011) – Eight colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) have been named in the “Top 100 Associate and Certificate Producers” by Community College Week magazine.
KCTCS colleges listed in the “Top 100 One-Year Certificate Producers” include: Jefferson Community and Technical College (11th), Bluegrass Community and Technical College (15th), West Kentucky Community and Technical College (33rd), Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (43rd), Somerset Community College (45th), Owensboro Community and Technical College (51st), Maysville Community and Technical College (60th) and Bowling Green Technical College (75th).
“The most significant area of growth, by far, is in health care disciplines, where the share of one-year certificates doubled from just over one-quarter to fully one-half of all such certificates conferred,” said Victor M. H.Borden, Professor of Educational Leadership And Policy Studies, University of Indiana Bloomington.
Community College Week’s analysis of this year’s Top 100 associate degree, one-year certificate, and two-year certificate producers examines the awards conferred during the 2009-10 academic year. The rankings are based upon data reported by the institutions to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), which is collected by the National Center for Education Statistics.
